Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors [NRTIs] that are converted by cellular cells‘ enzymes to active phosphorylated metabolites that inhibit viral reverse transcriptase and viral DNA synthesis.
Hepatic impairment; patients weighing less than 40kg should not be given ABC in fixed combination with AZT and 3TC; reduce dose in cases or renal impairment.
