20-60mg daily in divided dose until euthyroid state is attained. Maintenance dose: 5- 15mg for 6-18 months. Children: Initially 5-15mg in divided doses.

Mode of Action
It is converted to methimazole, which is ten times as active as carbimazole. It acts by inhibiting the synthesis of thyroid hormone within the thyroid gland by serving as substrates for thyroid peroxidase. Thyroid peroxidase catalyzes the integration of oxidized iodide into tyrosine residues in thyroglobulin molecules and couples iodotyrosines.
Pregnancy and lactation; liver disorders; patients to report any sign of infection especially sore throat; incase of an infection a white blood cell count should be done.
