UTI; skin infections; pneumonia; complicated intra-abdominal infections [in combination with I.V metronidazole].
Cefepime is given as the hydrochloride by deep I.M injection, or by I.V infusion over at least 30 minutes. Doses are expressed in terms of the equivalent amount of cefepime; 1.19g of cefepime hydrochloride is equivalent to about 1g of cefepime. The usual dose is 1 to 2g daily in 2 divided doses for mild to moderate infec-tions, increased to 4g daily in 2 divided doses in severe infections, although up to 6g daily in 3 divided doses has been given for febrile neutropenia. The dose of cefepime may need to be reduced in patients with renal impairment.
