Indications
Acute methanol poisoning: Acute ethylene glycol poisoning
Dose/Application
Dose: [IV solution of 10% ethanol in 5% glucose. The therapeutic concentration of ethanol is at least 100mg/dl that must be offered early before the me-tabolism of toxin]. Adult dose: IV or Oral; 50g initially then followed by IV infusion 5-10g/hr. For patients with history of long use of alcohol or those receiving haemodialysis, double use the dose. Child dose: IV or Oral; 0.6g/kg initially then followed by IV infusion 0.1 -0.2g/kg/hr.
