Fentanyl.
Indications
Relief of pain especially during operation, enhancement of anaesthesia.
Dose/Application
I.V dose: 50-200mcg as required. Chil- dren; 3-5mcg, then I mcg/kg as required. With assisted ventilation, 0.3-3.5mg then 100-200mcg as required. Child 15mcg/kg, then 1-3mcg/kg as required. Transdermal patches: They deliver about 12, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mcg/hr systemically representing about 0.3, 0.6, 1.2, 1.8, and 2.4 mg per day respectively for 72hrs when it should be changed. The lowest dose should be used. A conversion table of opiods is used.
