It may act by enhancing inhibitory ion channels hence inhibiting excitatory activity in CNS.
Use cautiously in patients with risk of elevated pressure and volume in the body air-containing cavities and vitamin B12 deficiency.
Susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia.
Prolonged use results in megaloblastic anemia and peripheral neuropathy; myeloneuropathy; hypoxia; suppression of formation of white blood cells resulting in leukopenia and agranulocytosis; malignant hyperthermia.
General notes: It supports combustion, inactivates vitamin B12 and interferes with DNA synthesis.
